Accounting Resources Centre ("ARC") is operated under Accounting Development Foundation Limited ("the Foundation").
The Foundation is a non-profit-making organization to promote unity and sharing among members in the accounting profession. It provides a platform for the exchange of ideas and experiences among members in the profession and also the general public. Variety of activities and events are to be held for the advancement and development of the accounting profession as well. It is founded by 28 professional accountants and led by Mr. Paul M. P. Chan, JP MH.
Hong Kong accountants, whether in practice or in business, face a lot of challenges and opportunities. ARC is established to give them much needed support. The main thrust of the resources centre is to provide support to young accountants. Besides, it will provide peer support to practitioners in small and medium sized practices (SMPs). Close connection between the Hong Kong and mainland economy makes China networking and support another natural component of the resources centre. This will benefit also accountants working in small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). In order to put ideas into action, two working groups have been formed, namely, "Young Accountants Support Group" and "Peer Support Group".
Different Accounting bodies are offering services to their members. Our aim is not to duplicate but to complement and fill in the gaps. This will be achieved primarily through a high-level coordination of services now available or to be provided.
Obviously, we cannot do it all alone by ourselves. We need all members of the accounting profession, firms, big or small, those in academia and the professional bodies to join forces.
