About the seminar
Mr. Chu was appointed the Commissioner of Inland Revenue with effect from 6 December 2009. He joined the Inland Revenue Department as an Assistant Assessor in 1975. In his long career in the Department he has taken up a number of positions handling different nature of work on profits tax, salaries tax, stamp duty, betting duty, estate duty and other tax types. He was promoted to Chief Assessor in 1994, to Assistant Commissioner of Inland Revenue in 2001, and to Deputy Commissioner of Inland Revenue in 2006.
As the head of the Inland Revenue Department, Mr. Chu believes his role is to lead the Department to accomplish the mission of collecting tax efficiently and cost-effectively, and providing courteous and effective services to the public. He will work in close liaison with the industry and his colleagues to achieve a win-win-win result for the community, the staff and the Department.
In this seminar, Mr. Chu will give an update on Double Tax Agreement, including New Exchange of Information Regime and Hong Kong/Mainland Comprehensive Arrangement.
